8 week courses
Wheel throwing & Handbuilding
Classes start 5–7 October
Our courses are now 8 weeks long.
It is the biggest change we have made since Stoker Studio began, and it came from what students told us: the six weeks went too fast.
8 weeks means you run the complete ceramic process twice, with two glaze sessions instead of one, so you come back to the wheel with everything you learnt the first time and finish a second collection. Courses run alongside the school terms. Class sizes are strictly limited to around nine students, and you must be over 16 to attend.

Deep dive into the art of wheel throwing
This is a wonderful course designed for beginners. Over the course of eight weeks you’ll gain a solid understanding of creating and finishing forms made on the wheel and develop the confidence to pursue independent practice with the skills you’ve learnt.
The eight week format takes you through the complete ceramic process twice, with two glaze sessions, so you return to the wheel already knowing what to expect and take home two finished collections.
This course covers a range of basic forms such as tumblers, bowls and small vases. You’ll also explore decorative treatments with oxides and slips.
As well as developing your awesome new skills and creating some beautiful pieces for home, you’ll make some amazing new pals over the eight weeks.
