Studio Sessions

New At Stoker

Supported practice

2 hours of clay time. Your projects.

A teacher nearby when you need them.

Finished a course but not quite ready to go it alone?

Or maybe you know exactly what you're doing — you just want some dedicated studio time, access to the equipment and someone nearby for those inevitable “why is my clay doing THAT?” moments.

Studio Sessions are our new supported practice sessions for past students and potters with some previous experience.

Open Studio… with backup.

These relaxed 2-hour sessions give you the freedom to work independently on your own projects, while having an experienced Stoker teacher in the studio to offer guidance, troubleshoot problems and help you keep developing your skills.

WHEEL STUDIO

SESSIONS

Book yourself a wheel and spend two uninterrupted hours throwing.

Practice your centering. Work on pulling taller. Throw a set. Revisit a shape you've been struggling with. Or simply come in and get your hands back on the wheel.

A teacher will be present throughout the session to answer questions, offer guidance and help when things aren't quite going to plan.

HANDBUILDING STUDIO

SESSIONS

Bring an idea or simply come and play.

Use your two hours to work independently on a handbuilding project, practice techniques from a previous course or keep developing something you've already started.

Our teacher will be nearby to help with construction, technique, problem solving and those all-important “will this actually survive the kiln?” questions. Practice your centering. Work on pulling taller. Throw a set. Revisit a shape you've been struggling with. Or simply come in and get your hands back on some clay.

WHO ARE STUDIO SESSIONS FOR?

Studio Sessions are perfect if you:

  • Have completed a Stoker course or have previous pottery experience

  • Want more practice between courses

  • Aren't quite ready to work completely independently

  • Want access to the studio without committing to a membership

  • Have a particular technique you'd like to practice

  • Miss clay and need an excuse to get back into the studio

These are supported practice sessions rather than structured classes, so there is no set project or lesson plan.

You decide what you'd like to work on and we'll be there when you need us.

*If you’re not sure if this is right for you contact us to discuss your needs.
